Introducing Erin Shebish – Sugar Crumbs * Mompreneur Feature

Wow, it’s been a long time since I last featured a local ‘mompreneur’ on my blog!   To me, a mompreneur is a woman who runs a business at home, while also being the primary caregiver for her children (and is generally selling a mom/child focused service or product).

I just love spotlighting these moms.  I guess it is because I know how absolutely hard it is to start and run your own business (while dealing with all the craziness of home and children!).  It takes an amazing amount of determination, energy, and creativity.

I’m so happy to introduce you the super sweet and very talented Erin Shebish, creator of Sugar Crumbs.  I’ve been blessed to get to know her recently through my local MOPS group.  She’s one of those people you meet, and hope that if you hang around them long enough, their cute and stylish personality will rub off on you. (Okay, Erin, now you know the real reason I want to be your friend!)

Oh, and read on to find out how you can win an item from her shop!

Tell us about Sugar Crumbs:

Sugar Crumbs started out as just a little hobby. I started making crochet toys for fun and it just caught on somewhere. People would ask if I could make something for them… Eventually I realized this was it. Running this little business making little creatures was exactly what I wanted to do! And so, Sugar Crumbs was born. And since everyone asks, the reason behind the name is simple! I wanted to leave little bits of happiness behind with my creations. Little bits of sweetness. You know… Sugar Crumbs. {See what I did there?}

What inspires you as a designer?

Clouds, shadows on the ground, daydreams, books, fuzzy animals in stores.  I have an over active imagination. At one point, I made a ton of toy food with faces just because I thought a smiling carton of milk would be adorable. (It was.)

What is your favorite part of running your own business?

Sharing the little bits of cute I have frolicking around my mind with the world. I love taking a ball of yarn and watching it nearly come to life. Very few things beat that feeling.

What is the experience that you want those who buy your designs to have?

You know when you see a little, tiny kitten and it’s so adorable that you kind of want to squish it in a bear hug just because it’s THAT cute? That pretty much sums it up.

Tell us about yourself and your family:

I love my family. My husband is the rock to my roll, the calm to my chaos. Jon is my creative companion and the perfect balance for my sometimes nuttiness. Speaking of nuttiness, we have THREE boys. Jeremy, Atticus and Gideon. Being the only girl in the house can be somewhat challenging but all in all, it’s a fun ride. Nothing beats being able to run around in mud puddles with little boys!

How do you manage motherhood and your business?

By ignoring my ever growing mound of laundry. Lol, just kidding. I try to work when the boys are all occupied with something else. And when there’s absolutely nothing that they have to occupy them, I involve them. You think kids like playing with toys? You should see how excited they get over making them!

How can we find you?
