There is nothing more special to a child than to see a photograph of themselves being cherished and loved. Whenever I do sessions, I strongly encourage parents to be in the portraits. It is such a wonderful blessing to pass on to them. They don’t see us with the critical eye that we see ourselves with. They just see love and acceptance.
When we become parents, our whole lives suddenly become a sacrifice of giving to our children. We sacrifice sleep, food, a shower, and even our sanity! We are always giving because we want them to have the best. However, studies have shown that children do not hold on to memories until about 7-8 years old. Their old memories keep being erased by the new memories in their lives. As parents, that’s a sad thought! Just think about the countless amount of time, love, and energy you pour into your child in the newborn-preschool years!
We want them to remember the love we felt when we hugged them close, or remember the joy when we tickled them. That is why it is so important for your children to see tactile photographs of themselves with those they love. Those photographs will trigger memories and help to solidify them in their minds.
One of my passions is to encourage every family to have portraits on their walls. We often decorate our walls with store bought portraits of nature, or other people’s children. Pictures that are lovely, but don’t instill a sense of family in our home. My goal is to create art for your walls that you will cherish. I love to talk with moms about their vision, home style, colors, clothing choices etc. – all things that will help to create portraits that you will be so excited to display in your home.
Make it a goal to put beautiful portraits of your family on your walls. Let your children see they are loved and valued. I would love to talk with you about how we can create something beautiful for your family. Contact me here or by clicking the button below.
